Route Description - Djibouti Whalesharks
Djibouti is far from the beaten track for most scuba divers, but it is one of the best locations for observing whale sharks. While most whale shark encounters occur near the shore, a liveaboard is strongly recommended to avoid the crowds of daily boat snorkellers and provide a more focused experience with these stunning plankton-eating sharks.
There is no doubt as to what the main attraction is here. Each and every year, whale sharks cruise into Djibouti's waters, stopping off on their annual migrations. Those who have not yet managed to see these formidable beauties or simply want to see them again will find that the Djibouti Liveaboards trip is ideal. This cruise is suitable for divers, snorkellers, and free divers. Sample itinerary:
Saturday: arrival in Djibouti, transfer to Ms/y Elegante
Sunday: Start of the cruise: check dive at MOUSHA ISLAND, second dive at FAON wreck, overnight at Mousha islands
Monday: first dive in RAS EIRO, snorkelling with whale sharks, second dive at ILE DU REQUINS, night dive and overnight in Ras Eiro
Tuesday: first dive at THE DOM, snorkelling with whale sharks, second dive at BAIE DES ETOILES, overnight at Baie des Etoiles
Wednesday: First dive at the Foult, second dive at BAIE DES ETOILES over night Baie des Etoiles
Thursday: first dive at SEC DE LA PASS, second dive at RAS CORALLI, snorkeling with whale sharks, overnight at Baie de l'Etoile
Friday: snorkelling with whale sharks, second dive at FAON wreck, night in Djibouti with visit of the city
Saturday: breakfast and disembarkation for the transfer to the airport.
If there are many hours to wait before the flight you can do the excursion to Lac Assal or stay at the Sheraton hotel (Lunch, swimming pool, and beach access)
